Amanda Doherty, Enfield Council

Classification: OFFICIAL

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request sent to
Enfield Council on the 25^th April 2017 in relation to Clasp system built
schools.

The HSE has issued specific guidance on managing asbestos in CLASP/System
Built schools.  Enfield Council has followed this guidance and implemented
specific control measures in all cases.  All schools where LBE is
dutyholder have been surveyed for asbestos and are re-inspected in line
with HSE guidance, this includes those with CLASP or other System
Buildings.  All schools under our control have their own Asbestos
Management Plan.  Air monitoring has been conducted in CLASP/System
Buildings and this has confirmed the effectiveness of our controls and
that these buildings are fit for occupation.

This response covers all community schools where the LBE is the duty
holder and schools that have converted in this period. Any schools where
the LBE is not duty holder we do not hold this information and a request
would need to be made by you to each individual school or Academy
Trust..
