Endorsement of BMSLG’s letter to David Miller

[Name Removed] made this Freedom of Information request to Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

We're waiting for [Name Removed] (Account suspended) to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner,

On Friday 9th February 2024, David Miller posted to X, formerly Twitter, a screenshot of a letter sent to him by the Bristol muslim Strategic Leadership Group (BMSLG) Team.

This letter reads:

“Dear Prof. David Miller
We are writing to congratulate you on your recent victory which establishes that anti-Zionist beliefs will be protected in the workplace.
This will have been an incredibly difficult personal journey but secures people's ability to speak up freely on issues that matter to them, especially in this particular space.
The current war on Gaza has highlighted how difficult it is to criticise Zionism and/or the Israeli government without being labelled as antisemitic. Being against Zionism does not make you antisemitic and we think this distinction is important.
We thank you for your fight and for making it easier for others to be able to freely express their views - which is pitched as a cornerstone of a democracy like ours.
With kinds regards
The BMSLG Team”

At the footer of this letter is your organisation’s logo - this suggests you have given an endorsement to the message within the letter.

1) Please share with me the communication from your organisation that was shared to BMSLG Team giving permission to use your logo (and therefore endorse this letter).

If this was not in written form (I.e. email, letter), please ensure you make it clear the date that you communicated your approval to BMSLG.

2) Please confirm the job title (or team name, where a job title would infringe on data protection rights) of who gave this permission to use your organisation’s logo on this letter.

3) If you did not give permission for this, please confirm your policy where an unauthorised use of your logo (and therefore endorsement) takes place.

Yours faithfully,
