I would be grateful if you could supply a list of empty/long term empty properties within the councils area.

I am requesting this information under the Freedom of Information Act.

A spreadsheet will suffice,Also any details of the current owners.

Dear Ms Gilder,

In response to your request below, we are unable to supply details of empty residential properties, as we consider that this is covered by the exemption in Section 31(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, relating to the prevention and detection of crime.

We consider that releasing this information is likely to increase the risk of theft from and squatting at such empty properties, and that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing it.

The same considerations do not apply to empty commercial properties so, if you require information about those, please let me know.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If he is unable to resolve your concerns, you then have a right of recourse to the Information Commissioner, who is the regulator for Freedom of Information.
