The request was successful.

Dear Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea,

Firstly, could the council tell me how many residential properties there were in the borough that had been vacant for 12 months or more, as of January 1 2021.

Secondly, I would be grateful if the council could tell me how many of those properties have been empty for:
- More than 24 months as of January 1 2021
- More than 36 months as of January 1 2021
- More than 48 months as of January 1 2021
- More than 60 months as of January 1 2021
- More than 72 months as of January 1 2021
- More than 84 months as of January 1 2021
- More than 96 months as of January 1 2021
- More than 108 months as of January 1 2021
- More than 120 months as of January 1 2021

Furthermore, can the council please fully explain and outline what additional council tax charges are levied on owners of properties that have been empty for 12 months or more?

It may be worth noting for you that Westminster City Council holds such information regarding the number of empty properties in its borough.

Page 6 of this Westminster Cabinet report from December 2020 indicates how many properties in Westminster have been empty for various lengths of time: https://committees.westminster.gov.uk/do...

Yours faithfully,

Owen Sheppard
