L C - Like many government departments/agencies, the Charity Commission 'owns' no properties it only rents its premises from either other departments or private landlords.

Due to the current economic climate, the Commission like all other departments/agencies is constantly reviewing its costs and use/occupation of space.

At present it has four offices - London, Liverpool, Taunton and Newport. All of these are occupied and in some cases shared with other departments/agencies to make most effective use of available space and spread costs.

These properties are leased from various owners and any details on future plans for relocating/vacating are likely to be 'commercially sensitive' - as such excepted from disclosure under FOI.

If you think about it - would you want your landlord to know you were thinking of moving out too far in advance? Of course not...it would just encourage them to maximise income from their tenant and could make the relationship generally 'difficult' - plus, it's always possible there could be a change of plans.

I would expect this request to be refused, on the same basis as some of the other 50 identical requsts you have made to other goverment departments/agencies.

Carroll, Liam, Charity Commission for England and Wales

Dear L.C. Looi

Thank you for your recent email. I am sorry that I could not respond
sooner. I see that you have requested certain information and I have taken
this to be a request for information under the provisions of the Freedom
of Information Act 2000.

I see that you would like information on any buildings belonging to the
Charity Commission which are empty or scheduled to be vacant. The
Commission does not actually own, but leases, the properties that it
occupies. Further details on the office locations are available here:

[1]http://www.charitycommission.gov.uk/Abou...

As you will see there are four locations, all of which are occupied and in
some cases are shared with other occupiers as they are sublet. Further
detail on this is available from our latest Annual Report (Page 50).

The answer to your questions at present, then, is none.

I hope that this is sufficient for your needs but should I have
misunderstood your requests in any way please let me know.

Regards

Liam Carroll
