Employment Tribunal naming and penalty scheme
Dear Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy,
The Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices recommended that employers who do not pay employment tribunal awards within a reasonable time should be named publicly. The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) announced a naming scheme on 17 December 2018. Awards registered with BEIS on or after 18 December 2018 are in scope for naming.
Please provide a list of all those so far named under the scheme and where this is published. Please provide any documents relating to the implementation of the scheme such as budgets and minutes of meetings.
In response to another request you stated:
"The Government has not yet publicly named employers through the employment tribunal award naming scheme but will do so in due course. The names of employers will be released through a BEIS press release which will be publicly available. We are unable to release the names of employers ahead of the press release as there are a number of steps that have to be followed to allow employers a final opportunity to pay the award or make a representation to the Department if they think they meet requirements to be exempt from naming."

Please provide statistics as to how many employers have paid the award after you have contacted them informing them of a possibility that they will be named on the list.
Please provide statistics as to how many employers have made representations to you about their possible inclusion on the list.
Please provide copies of press releases that you have so far issued.
Please provide statistics breaking down the number and amount of additional penalties on employers who have failed to pay an Employment Tribunal award for each year the employment tribunal penalty scheme has been in operation.
Yours faithfully,
Pat Harrington
