Employment practices, including employees earning less than £7.65/hour

The request was successful.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act
2000 for information relating to college employment practices. I
would like to know the following, as of November 2013:

1. The number of staff currently employed by the college, whether
full time or part time, being paid under £7.65 an hour (excluding
benefits).
2. The number of staff employed by the college who are working on
zero-hours contracts (i.e. staff who are ‘on call’ but have no
contractually set hours of work).
3. The number of staff employed, if any, who have opted out of the
Working Time Regulations and work, or have worked, for more than 48
hours per week for the college.
4. Whether the college sub-contracts any external employment
agencies to provide staff, and if so the names of these agencies
and (if you hold the information) the number of outsourced staff
who are paid below £7.65 per hour.

Thank you very much for your assistance with this request. If you
would like any clarification of the information I have asked for,
please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I look forward to receiving
your response.

Yours faithfully,

P Brady

Dear Mr Brady

Thank you for your Freedom of Information requestion concerning college
employment practices received by the College on 22nd November 2013.

1. 15

2. The College has one member of staff, who works full-time at Reception,
who resides in college, and who receives a rent reduction in return for
being on call for emergencies 'out-of'hours' and is paid for calls-outs on
an hourly basis. The College has another member of staff, who works
part-time at Reception, who resides in college, and who is paid for
out-of-hours emergency call-outs on an hourly basis. I am not sure if this
meets your definition of zero-hours contracts.

3. Zero

4. It does not.

Yours sincerely

Dr Richard Anthony
