Dear Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company,

Please provide a summary of the number of workers in your organisation. This should include NITHCo and be be broken down by those:

1) employed directly by Translink

2) contracted directly by Translink. For clarity these people are likely to have a fixed-term contract and are required to meet Translink terms and conditions. They may even be recorded in your human resource system.

3) contracted though an external recruitment agency. For clarity these people are likely to have contract with the recruitment agency and will submit timesheets directly with them. Translink may have a contract with the agency but it will not be with the individual.

Yours faithfully,
Gerry Rice

Dear Mr. Rice,

Further to my earlier brief acknowledgement, I am now in a position to respond more fully to your request for information.

I can advise that Translink currently has 3,877 employees on its payroll. In relation to agency workers employed by Translink, the total at present is 14.

I trust the foregoing deals with the various queries which you raised. If you are not satisfied with this reply you may complain to the Translink Commercial & Services Director, who has overall responsibility for Freedom of Information and Data Protection issues within the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company/Translink organisation. Correspondence should be addressed to: Translink, Chamber of Commerce House, 22 Great Victoria Street, Belfast BT2 7LX.

If we are then unable to resolve any complaint that you may have, you may refer the matter to the Information Commissioner who will make an independent judgement. The address of the Information Commissioner is: Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AT. The address of the Information Commissioner’s Office for Northern Ireland is: 51 Adelaide Street, Belfast, BT2 8FE.

Dear Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company's handling of my FOI request 'Employee numbers'.

I requested 3 parts of information and only 2 have been provided. Given that I had clearly broken the question into 3 distinct parts along with clarification as to what was meant, I had assumed it was reasonably clear what I was looking for.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:

Yours faithfully,

Dear Mr. Rice,

Thank you for your follow-up e-mail.

Please accept my apologies for any misunderstanding in my original response. In light of your further comments, I have checked the position and can advise that the staff numbers quoted as being Translink employees were all employed directly by Translink. By way of clarification, 24 of the total 3,877 employees are on fixed term contracts, with the remaining 3,853 on permanent contracts. It should be noted that those on fixed term contracts receive similar terms/conditions and benefits to permanent employees. These figures exclude the 14 agency employees currently working for Translink.

I trust this clarifies matters for you and does away with the need for further review. However, should you wish to do so, I will certainly set the due process in motion.

I will await your further advice.

Yours sincerely,

Janice Davidson

Dear Mr. Rice,

Further to my earlier brief acknowledgement I am now in a position to
respond more fully to your request under the Freedom of Information Act
2000.

Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in coming back
to you.

Investment in the Translink website (revenue and capital) for past three
financial years is as follows:

2008 /
09
£  55,546

2009 /
10
£ 135,776

2010 /
11
£ 110,780

2011 / 12 (to date i.e. to end of Period 10)            £  93,623

The detail of payments made to individual suppliers would, in Translink’s
view, be commercially sensitive and is therefore withheld under Section 43
“commercial Interests” of the exemptions to the Freedom of Information Act
2000.

I trust the foregoing deals with the various queries which you raised.  If
you are not satisfied with this reply you may complain to the Translink

of Information and Data Protection issues within the Northern Ireland
Transport Holding Company/Translink organisation.  Correspondence should

independent judgement.  The address of the Information Commissioner is:
Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AT.  The address of
