Can you please answer the following questions with regards to this Freedom of Information Request.
1.How many Children based as in Patients have been refered to Social Services with regards to section 47 Child Protection issues within the past 24 calendar month's?
2.How many Children have been removed from the Hospital wards on a Emergency Protection Order in the past 24 month's?
3.How many Children Children have been removed from the wards on an Emergency Protection Order without the Parents prior knowledge please give statistics for the past 12 calendar month's?
4.How many children have been removed directly from a ward on a Police protection order within the past 12 calendar month's?
5.Can you please provide me with a copy of the Hospitals Child protection policy please?
6.How many Parents have self discharged their children from the Hospital wards in the past 12 calendar months?
And of these cases how many Children were refered to Social Service's?

We have provided the information by site, Birmingham Women's Hospital (BW), Birmingham Children's Hospital (BC) and Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB), which together are Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust (BWC).

Information from Birmingham Women's Hospital

1.How many Children based as in Patients have been referred to Social Services with regards to section 47 Child Protection issues within the past 24 calendar month's?

Response:

BW referrals are mainly for unborn babies however we completed 19 Request for Support Referrals to Children's Social Care where Neonates were inpatients and assessed has having significant complex needs.

2.How many Children have been removed from the Hospital wards on a Emergency Protection Order in the past 24 month's?

Response:

There have been no neonates removed from Birmingham women's hospital on Emergency Protection Orders in the past 24 months.

3.How many Children have been removed from the wards on an Emergency Protection Order without the Parents prior knowledge please give statistics for the past 12 calendar month's?

Response: There have been no neonates removed from Birmingham women's hospital on Emergency Protection Orders without the parent's prior knowledge for the past 12months.

4.How many children have been removed directly from a ward on a Police protection order within the past 12 calendar month's?

Response:

There have been no neonates removed from Birmingham women's hospital on Police Protection Orders in the past 12 months.

5.Can you please provide me with a copy of the Hospitals Child protection policy please?

6.How many Parents have self-discharged their children from the Hospital wards in the past 12 calendar months?

Response:

There have been no neonates self-discharged by their parents in the past 12months.

And of these cases how many Children were referred to Social Service's? N/A

Information from BCH and FTB

1.How many Children based as in Patients have been referred to Social Services with regards to section 47 Child Protection issues within the past 24 calendar month's?

Response:

1026 inpatients have been referred to Social Care from March 2016-March 2018 with an outcome of a Section 47 investigation.

We do not have data recorded for the other questions. There may be information held in the medical notes for the 1026 patients reported above, providing further detail about EPO's and PPO's but each set of notes would need to be reviewed to identity this detail which would take more than 18 hours.
