This is a Freedom of Information request made to Worthing Borough Council, under provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

What precautions, preparations, planning and costings have been undertaken in case the following events occur in the Borough of Worthing:

An asteroid or asteroids crashing in to Worthing;
Break up above Worthing in the atmosphere of a Meteor or Meteors;

A meteorite or meteorites land or crash in Worthing;

A man-made object or objects, (such as a satellite, space telescope, human space flight vehicle etc.) landing or crashing in the Borough of Worthing;

Solar activity disrupting electromagnetic fields;

Please list costings separately for each scenario above.

Please also include how many staff hour have been spent on each scenario above.

The answer is as follows:

Worthing Borough Council have an emergency plan which is aimed at fire and bomb procedures and evacuations.

If you are unhappy with the way that this request has been resolved, then you may ask for an internal review of this decision by writing to The Executive Head of Corporate and Cultural Services (Jeremy Cook) at The Town Hall, Chapel Road, Worthing, BN11 1HA.

You may also make a complaint under Section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act to the Information Commissioner, who can be contacted at Whycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. However please note that he would normally expect that any internal review procedures have been exhausted prior to contacting him.
