Emergency Navigation Closures

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Canal & River Trust should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

As of today's date C&RT have sixteen Emergency Navigation Closures in force -

Lock 7, Actons Lock, Regents Canal
Lock 1 to 12. Macclesfield Canal.
Lock 2, Belan Locks, Montgomery Canal
Teeces Bridge (Stoney Lane Little Bloxwich) Wyrley & Essington Canal
Lock 4, Aston, Birmingham & Fazeley Canal
Trent & Mersey, Lock 62, Pavilion Lock and Lock 67 Booth Lane Top Lock
Camp Hill Top Lock to Knowle Top Lock
Glasson Flight - Lancaster Canal
Bridge 46 Bevans Lane Bridge (Mon & Brec) »
Bridge 10 (Holmes Swing Bridge) to Stanley Lock Flight / Eldonian Village (Leeds & Liverpool)

From the above list please provide me with a sub list of Navigation Closures that are 'within our control' (i.e. those that would count towards the same KPI if set for 2018/19).

Thank you for your request for information regarding From the above list please provide me with a sub list of Navigation Closures that are 'within our control' (i.e. those that would count towards the same KPI if set for 2018/19).

I can confirm this request was received on 11-Jul-18 and I am dealing with it in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Under the terms of the Act you are entitled to a response within 20 working days of receipt.

Number and duration of unplanned towpath closures
Defined as unplanned closures that are caused by asset or infrastructure failure for the year ended 31 March 2018.
Number of closures 31 (2017: 24)
Number of closure days 452 (2017: 294)
Please provide the same information for unplanned navigation closures.

My colleague Mr Tom Deards wrote to you on the 26th July in response to an internal review to two of your previous requests for information. In this letter he informed you that any subsequent requests submitted by yourself would be refused under section 14 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act which states that:

Section 1(1) does not oblige a public authority to comply with a request for information if the request is vexatious.
