On 14^th July 2021 Hertfordshire County Council received the following
request for information from you:

 

I would like some information around Emergency Duty Team foster carers in
your authority. Please could you offer any details regarding the following
questions:

2.How do you incentivise foster carers to take teenagers?

3.Your standard weekly rate (excluding child allowance)?

 

 

Your request for information has been considered under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. I can confirm that Hertfordshire County Council does
hold the information you have requested. Our response is as follows.

 

1. Each of the 4 fostering teams identify available foster carers who can
offer emergency placements for the week.

The list of available foster carers is sent to the Brokerage team and out
of hours team with details of foster carers, contact details, approval
terms etc.

On Fridays a new list is sent to Brokerage and out of hours re foster
carers from each team who are available for the weekend.

 

2.In the HCC foster carer payment structure, there is a higher payment for
foster carers caring for children aged 11 and above. See below.

 

 

3.HCC Foster carers payment structure:

 

Age of child in placement 0-4 5-10 11-15 16-17
Allowance £150 £166 £189 £222
Foundation level
£0 £0
(previously Standard level)
Standard level skills payment(previously levels 1 £165.07 £246.29
and 2)

 

With regard to additional payments to emergency foster carers, we offer a
retainer payments £150 for foster carers who are available to offer
emergency placements for children from Friday to Monday mornings.

If you are unhappy with the way the County Council has handled your
