Emergency Care Orders

The request was refused by Manchester City Council.

Dear Manchester City Council,

I am writing to find out the following:

1) How many Emergency Care Orders were issued in respect of children from 1st January 2016 to present date.

2) How many Interim Care Orders were issued in the same time period (1st January 2016 to present date)?

3) I require breakdown of how many of these orders were wrongfully issued and where the children were quickly returned to their families.

4) How long was the average timeframe that children were wrongly kept in care?

5) How many of these Emergency Care Orders were issued as a result of malicious referrals by professionals such as doctors (or any hospital staff), teachers, therapists or any other local authority employee?

6) Is it possible to have the statistics for care orders (both emergency and interim) issued from 1st January 2014 to 31st December 2015?

7) Finally, what percentage of children taken into care are surrendered voluntarily by their parents?

I look forward to your prompt response within the period of time as prescribed by law.

Yours faithfully,

Jessica Jones
