Dear Matthew

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request concerning Emergency
Ambulance Transfer Notification

The Trust can provide the following information:

Please provide me with the policy for London Ambulance Service notifying
your Emergency Department that they are incoming with a critical patient
on blue lights.

The policy will be a decision by the ambulance crew to prealert a hospital
as to the imminent attendance of    an unwell priority patient.

The policy therefore regarding who they ‘blue light’ to the department
remains with London Ambulance Service.

Established practice however is the department has a dedicated phone to
receive these & no other calls.

We have a brief proforma of information received from the LAS
controller. That information is

usually taken by or given to the nurse in charge of the shift & the
resuscitation room nurse

is notified that they are about to receive a patient. A doctor is then
freed up from other

duties to receive the patient. There is no policy as this is standard
practice & as such

we have not needed to write a policy.

Please also provide a structure chart for your Emergency

     Department.

We do not hold a structure chart for the Emergency Department.

If you have any queries about this response please contact the information
governance manager at [1][email address], in the first instance. If,
following that, you still have any concerns, you may contact the
Information Commissioner either by letter, FOI/EIR Complaints resolution,
Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SM9 5AF, or by email
