Can I clarify – are you looking only for patients admitted via A&E, or all
emergency admissions? (E.g. a direct emergency admission to a ward on
arrangement with GP etc)

Also – are the primary admission reasons you are looking for “Alzheimer’s
/ dementia”, “self-harm” and “excess alcohol / drugs”?

Sorry to get back in touch so soon, I just wanted to double check one further point with you;

Due to the way our systems record admission data, "self-harm" is not something that would be listed in a "primary" admission reason. It is usually secondary to something else, often "excess alcohol/drugs" which means we would be providing you with overlapping data.

I wanted to check whether you are happy for us to take this approach - admission with “Alzheimer’s
/ dementia” and “excess alcohol / drugs” in the "primary" position, and searching on "self-harm" in the "secondary" position, bearing in mind this may overlap with other data already provided.
