Dear Electoral Commission,

On Tuesday 02 May, SNP Treasury spokesperson Roger Mullin MP wrote the Electoral Commission, requesting an inquiry into funds donated to the Conservative Party via IPGL Ltd, following a large loan via HSBC.

In an extraordinarily fast turn around for such a sensitive subject, the Electoral Commission responded to Roger Mullin, in writing, by the middle of the following day, before the hard copy of Rogers letter would have been physically received by the Commission, via registered post.

Please provide the requested information below for the relevant period 28/04/17 through 04/05/2017 for the following Electoral Commission staff/ management groups :

- Executive Team
- Senior Leadership Team
- Press/ Communications Team
- Political Finance and Regulation

The Commission aims to respond to requests for information promptly and
within the statutory timeframe of twenty working days. However, in order
to do so, we are requesting a clarification of your request.

 

We would like to seek more information about the nature of the
correspondence that you are requesting between the Electoral Commission
teams listed above and (1) the Cabinet Office and (11) HM Treasury.

The Commission does have a large volume of correspondence with both of
these departments on a range of issues and topics.   If you are able to
let us know if there are any particular types or topics of correspondence
that you interested in then we will be able to provide a more targeted and
relevant response to your request.

 

The period of twenty working days will begin from the date we receive
clarification.  If we do not receive clarification by Tuesday 13 June 2017
we will close this request.

I wrote to you on 16 May 2017 to inform you that we required further
clarification of your request before we could provide a response.

 

We have not received any such clarification from you, so I am now writing
to inform you that we consider this request to be closed.

 

If you would like to re-submit your request, please consider revising the
wording of the request to address these questions from my email of 16 May
2017:
