Dear Kacey Montagu,

Freedom of Information Request F21-194

Thank you for your request for information as copied below.  You have
asked the House of Commons three questions about guidance for Members and
their staff which we have sought to answer below.

1) Copy of guidance provided to MPs regarding the use of their personal
email and their parliamentary email.

Specific email guidance for Members is not held by the House of Commons.

It may help you to know that Members are provided with a parliamentary
email account and access to the Parliamentary Network.  However, only
general guidance on Digital Services is provided, some of which is about
emails, and this can be found in the Members’ Handbook with which you have
already been provided. Members may also choose to use other personal email
accounts from other providers if they wish.

2) Guidance for dealing with casework from constituents

and
3) Guidance provided to MPs staff regarding replying to letters and
communications.

This information is not held by the House of Commons.

The House does not employ Members of Parliament.  Each Member is similar
to a self-employed person, in that they employ their own staff and manage
their own work at their discretion.  It is up to each Member to decide how
they wish their offices to deal with casework and correspondence.
However, it is possible that some political parties may offer support or
guidance on these matters, so you may wish to contact them for this
information.  Contact details for political parties can be found online,
but please note that they are not classed as public authorities so are not
obliged to respond to Freedom of Information requests.

You may, if dissatisfied with the handling of your request, complain to
the House of Commons. Alternatively, if you are dissatisfied with the
outcome of your request you may ask the House of Commons to conduct an
internal review of any decision regarding your request.  Complaints or
requests for internal review should be addressed to: Information Rights
and Information Security Service, Research & Information Team, House of
Commons, London SW1A 0AA or [1][House of Commons request email].  Please ensure
that you specify the full reasons for your complaint or internal review
along with any arguments or points that you wish to make.

If you remain dissatisfied, you may appeal to the Information Commissioner
at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF,
[2]https://ico.org.uk/.

Yours sincerely,
