Elligibility to attend a drving safety course

We're waiting for William Rees to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Her Majesty’s Courts and the Tribunals Service,
Ref: 0623051555195420
Do I have the option of paying a fine and taking the safety course rather than having penalty points?

Yours faithfully,
William Rees

HMCTS Customer Service (Correspondence),

Thank you for your email about a driving offence.

Speed awareness courses are offered by the police in certain circumstances. The court does not have an option to offer an awareness course. If your case has already been referred to the courts, it is unlikely the course is an option. You may, however, wish to contact the police force who sent you the original Notice of Intended Prosecution.

You may wish to seek independent advice about your situation. Citizens Advice provides free, confidential and impartial advice on a range of matters. You could also contact Civil Legal Advice on their telephone helpline on 0345 345 4345 or find more about the service they provide at www.gov.uk/civil-legal-advice.
