Eleven plus

The request was successful.

Dear Kent County Council,

Please can you tell me how many and what proportion of pupils in each primary school in Dartford constituency passed the 11 plus examination in each of the last five years.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Tim Davy

Dear Mr Davy

Further to our acknowledgement letter I am writing to ask if you would
be prepared to name the schools you want the information for, rather
than defining them by constituency. The reason we have asked is that it
would make it easier for us to provide the correct data from our records
as we group the schools by DCSF number, rather than constituency.

Also, we would be able to supply "pupils assessed suitable for grammar
school through PESE" from the data as we hold it, but we would need to
undertake additional work to separate the children assessed only on test
scores from those assessed at the local panel stage. Would "assessed G"
meet your purpose?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Dear Debbie Percival (Kent County Council),

Thank you for your reply. Regarding the type of results - I was unaware that there were two different types of assessment/result. As such, I would be grateful if I could have both so that I can see the difference between those assessed suitable and those that actually pass the eleven plus.

The list below are the Primary schools for which I would like this data.

Bean Primary School
Brent Primary School
Craylands Community Primary School
Darenth Community Primary School
Gateway Community Primary School
Holy Trinity CEP School
Joydens Wood Infant School
Joydens Wood Junior School
Knockhall Community Primary School
Langafel CEP School
Manor Community Primary School
Maypole Primary School
Oakfield Community Primary School
Our Lady's Catholic Primary School
Rowhill School
Sedley's CEP School
St Albans Road Infant School
St Anselm's Catholic Primary School
Stone St Mary's CEP School
Sutton-at-Hone CEP School
Temple Hill Community Primary and Nursery School
Wentworth Primary School
West Hill Primary School
Westgate Primary School Dartford
Wilmington Primary School
York Road Junior School & Language Unit

In addition to the above information, I would like to know, as percentages, which schools the pupils from the above schools that do not pass the eleven plus do attend.

Yours faithfully,

Tim Davy

I have just received another request for clarification from you. Please see below for the original reply I sent to this.

Dear Mr Davy

Could you please confirm what you mean by your last paragraph:

' I would like to know, as percentages, which schools the pupils from
the above schools that do not pass the eleven plus do attend.'

Do you want to know which schools the children who did not pass were
offered?

Dear Kent County Council,

Yes, I would like to know which schools the children who do not pass the eleven plus are offered, and, if possible, how these figures breakdown as a percentage of pupils for the schools they are going from.

Yours faithfully,

Tim Davy

Dear Mr Davy

Thank you for your request for information made under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.

I am pleased to provide 4 spreadsheets with assessment data for the
schools listed. The data returned for this request comes in the main from
archived material which does not appear to let us make the division
between test assessment and panel assessment any longer, so the totals
given are for pupils assessed G, regardless of how the assessment was
achieved.

We have taken Joyden's Wood Infants and St Alban's off the supplied list
because they do not go up to Y6, and Rowhill because it is a Special
School. There are not "historical" records for Craylands and Manor, as
they are quite new schools. We do not have Kent 11+ records for any of
the schools for 2006 because at that time the Dartford Grammar Schools ran
their own selection process as a federation, and did not use the county
council's tests.

The attached report (Dart Prim Sch offers for non G children) shows the
number of non G-assessed pupils (this includes pupils who took the Kent
Test but did not pass and those who did not sit the test at all) for each
primary school and where they were offered according to our records for
2007-10. This information is based on what data we received from the
schools during the summer after the offer day in each year - please note
that the school a child was offered is not necessarily where they
eventually attended in September.

If you are unhappy with this response, and believe KCC has not complied
with legislation, please ask for a review by following our complaints
process; details can be found at this link
[1]http://www.kent.gov.uk/council-and-democ...
on our website. Please quote reference FOI/10/0770.

If you still remain dissatisfied following an internal review, you can
appeal to the Information Commissioner, who oversees compliance with the
Freedom of Information Act 2000. Details of what you need to do, should
you wish to pursue this course of action, are available from the
Information Commissioner's website
