Electric vehicle charging point installation
Dear Islington Borough Council,
A number of electric vehicle charging points have been installed on pavements in the borough in recent months. Some of these points significantly reduce the useable width of the pavement for pedestrians.
Please provide:
- A copy of any requirements used to evaluate potential locations, e.g. minimum acceptable widths for pedestrians after installation
- A copy of any accessibility/equalities assessment done before authorising this programme
- A copy of detailed design drawings for the charging point on Corbyn Street near the junction with Almington Street.
Yours faithfully,
Graham Parks

Dear Public Realm,
Thanks for your reply. Could you clarify when the change from 1.2m to 1.5m occurred? Are there any new charging points in progress that will be installed using the 1.2m rule, or can we expect anything new to adhere to the 1.5m rule?
Secondly, the diagram you have supplied is labelled "as built". Do you have a design diagram - i.e. what was proposed before the charging point was installed?
Yours sincerely,
Graham Parks
