Dear Jasmine,
I am writing in response to your request dated 15 August 2024. This has
been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The Council’s response to your specific questions is set out below:
I write to ask the following questions:
1. How many electric charge points does this council currently own and
operate?
The Council own and operate 4 publicly accessible EV charging units in
total.
2. Are all the charge points compliant with the 2023 Public Charge Point
Regulations? If not all, then how many?
Three out of the four charge points comply with the regulations. The
fourth unit is a historic Pod Point unit that doesn’t currently allow
roaming (it was installed in 2021). The unit was also free until June 2024
so was not part of the regulations. The Council’s understanding is that
the roaming element is not required until November 2025.
3. What steps have been taken by the council to ensure compliance with
the 2023 Public Charge Point Regulations?
The Council will work with Pod Point to establish roaming opportunities
for this charging point over the next year. As above, the remaining points
are compliant.
4. Has this council experienced any challenges when working to comply
with the 2023 Public Charge Point Regulations?
As above, only the age of one charging point has this caused the Council
an issue in relation to the Regulations. Until recently, the charger
wasn’t eligible for roaming requirements due to being free at the point of
use. As the Council have introduced a tariff, this requirement is being
reviewed.
If you are not content with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. Requests for internal reviews should
be submitted within 2 months of the date of receipt of the response to
your original request and should be addressed to the Monitoring Officer,
PO Box 1720, Huddersfield HD1 9EL. Alternatively, you can send an email
to: [1][email address].
Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future
communications.
If you are not content with the outcome of any review you have the right
under section 50 of the 2000 Act to apply to the Information Commissioner
for a decision as to whether your request for information has been dealt
with in accordance with the requirements of the Act. The Information
Commissioner’s website is at [2]www.ico.org.uk and gives more information
about the role and duties of the Commissioner. The ICO telephone helpline
on 0303 123 1113 or 01625 545745 is available between 9am and 5pm, Monday
to Friday.
