Request for Information – Electively Home Educated Children

I refer to your request for information dated 14 March 2023.

The information you requested was:-

 1. Please provide the current number of Electively Home Educated (EHE)
children known to your authority.

 2. Please provide the number of School Attendance Orders (SAO) served in
relation to EHE children since 1/9/2022.

 3. Please provide information on how many of those SAOs were revoked.

 4. Please provide the number of those SAO's prosecuted for non
compliance. 

Response

Relative to the above, I am advised of the following:

Question 1

Perth & Kinross Council currently (as at 14/03/2023) have 85 children and
young people who have been removed from the school roll to be home
educated.   

Questions 2 – 4

0 (zero) – We can advise that Perth & Kinross Council has not served any
School Attendance Orders (SAO) as the terminology used in these questions
relates to English legislation relating to Home Education. Scottish
legislation does not make provision for local authorities to issue School
Attendance Orders, please see the following link for Home Education

You have a right to request a review of the Council’s decision. Click
