Dear Monmouthshire Council,

I am comparing national guidelines with local policy.

Please provide

1. A copy of Monmouthshire County council Elective Home Education guidelines.
2. Please confirm if Monmouthshire County council Home Education guidelines are in line with current Welsh government policy.
3. Please provide a copy of information provided to parents who chose to Home Educate their child, this may include initial documentation and any support/ information provided at a later time.
3. It has been stated that counties in Wales are being pressured to visit children termly in Wales, this is not stated in current Welsh guidelines therefore please provide evidence of this directive in order that this may be taken further with relevant assembly members.

regarding Elective Home Education Policy . The request is being handled
under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

 

You requested the following information:

 

Please provide:

 

1.  A copy of Monmouthshire County council Elective Home Education
guidelines.

2.  Please confirm if Monmouthshire County council Home Education

In response, the Principal Officer, Inclusion, has provided answers to
your request below:

 

1. We do not have a policy, we follow WG Guidelines. Monmouthshire
explores reasons why parents are choosing to EHE. If this is due to school
based issues every effort is made to resolve them

2. We follow WG Guidelines.

3. Schools are now required to submit the attached form indicating that
they have received a letter from parents, support is in the form of a
visit to the family from EHE Officer

4. Monmouthshire provides the offer of a visit termly to provide
additional support for parents, if parent do not want this then they can
decline
