FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST

Thank you for your request for information received on 27 January 2022 in
relation to cost of care. We have considered your request and provide the
information below.

(1) The typical cost that would be charged to a member of the public, for
a care home, per week, procured by the council (assuming no
reliefs/discounts applicable). Please could you tell me the weekly price
for residential care, nursing care and nursing care with dementia. For
each please can you itemise separately the personal care element.

There is no ‘typical cost’ that would be charged to a member of the
public, each client’s contribution is determined by their own financial
circumstances.

The cost would vary depending on the resident’s individual financial
circumstances as everyone with less than £50,000 is entitled to undergo a
financial assessment to determine what their individual client
contribution would be (up to the maximum of the following gross cost):-

Elderly Residential - £636.53 per week

Elderly Nursing - £633.42 per week

EMI Residential - £694.49 per week

EMI Nursing - £698.63 per week.

We are unable to itemise separately the personal care element as we do not
apply separate charges for personal care and accommodation costs.

(2) The typical cost that would be charged to a member of the public, for
an hour of home care procured by the council (assuming no
reliefs/discounts applicable). Please could you itemise separately the
personal care element if one exists.

There is no ‘typical cost’ that would be charged to a member of the
public, each client’s contribution is determined by their own financial
circumstances.

The current standard rate for homecare procured by Caerphilly CBC is
£15.34 per hour to a maximum of £100.00 per week as set by the Welsh
Government.  An individual’s charge however would depend on their own
financial circumstances as anyone with less than £24,000 would be offered
a financial assessment to determine what their personal contribution would
be towards the cost of their care.

We are unable to itemise separately the personal care element as we do not
apply separate charges for personal care and accommodation costs.
