Elder Care Costs

The request was partially successful.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please could you send me the following info in csv file:

- The typical cost that would be charged to a member of the public, for a care home, per week, procured by the council (assuming no reliefs/discounts applicable). Please could you tell me the weekly price for residential care, nursing care and nursing care with dementia. For each pls can you itemise seperately the personal care element.

- The typical cost that would be charged to a member of the public, for an hour of home care procured by the council (assuming no reliefs/discounts applicable). Please could you itemise seperately the personal care element if one exists.

Regards

Alan Andrews

Title of request: Elder Care Costs

Dear Alan Andrews,

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST

Thank you for your recent request received by the Council on 27 January
2022.

You have requested the following information under the provisions of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000:

- The typical cost that would be charged to a member of the public, for a
care home, per week, procured by the council (assuming no
reliefs/discounts applicable).  Please could you tell me the weekly price
for residential care, nursing care and nursing care with dementia.  For
each pls can you itemise seperately the personal care element.

- The typical cost that would be charged to a member of the public, for an
hour of home care procured by the council (assuming no reliefs/discounts
applicable).  Please could you itemise seperately the personal care
element if one exists.

Our response is as follows:

Residential Care

Unfortunately we are unable to answer your question at the moment as we
cannot split the costs. In line with work planned on Social Care reform we
will be completing a cost of care exercise which will allow us to break
down the care home fee into hotel costs and personal care costs for the
different types of care home services. However this wont be completed
until the Autumn. If you would like the average costs for Care Home
placements across Residential, Nursing and Nursing Dementia please come
back to us.

 Home Care

We operate a Framework for Home Care providers which is currently £19 per
hour. There is no separate itemisation available.

If you are unhappy with this response to your request for information
under the Freedom of Information Act then you may ask for an internal
review. Please make a request in writing to the Information Governance
Team at [1][email address]. If you request such a review and are not
content with its outcome, then you have a right to apply directly to the
Information Commissioner for a decision.  The Information Commissioner can
