Request for Information - Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA)

 

Further to your recent request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act received on 28^th September 2020, I am able to supply the
following information on behalf of Bury Council.

 

How many applications did Bury Metropolitan Borough Council receive for
children to get Education, Health and Care Plan assessments in 2019, 2018
& 2017?

•             2017 – 280 requests

•             2018 – 249 requests

•             2019 – 184 requests

 

How many of these applications were refused in 2019, 2018 & 2017?

 

•             2017 – 73 No to undertake the assessment, however 14 were No
to assess but provided support plus funding

•             2018 – 74 No to undertake the assessment

•             2019 – 60 No to undertake the assessment

 

How many of these applications led to Education, Health and Care Plan
assessments taking place, in 2019, 2018 & 2017?

•             2017 – 193 assessments undertaken

•             2018 –  175 assessments undertaken

•             2019 – 124 assessments undertaken

 

How many Education, Health and Care Plans were issued by Bury Metropolitan
Borough Council in 2019, 2018 & 2017?

•             2017 – 649 EHC plans issued

•             2018 –  373 EHC plans issued

•             2019 – 211 EHC plans issued

 

Overall there were 1233 EHC plans issued between 2017 and 2019 with only
492 assessments being recorded.

 

The disparity in the data would be from  the transfer of Statements to
EHCP.

 

Transfer of statements to EHCPs continued throughout 2017 until 31st March
2018.
