Egerton house and pacific road sale to wirral chamber of commerce , again

We're waiting for Bill Crutchley to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

I have not had an answer to my questions about public money being spent on buildings before they are sold to wirral chamber of commerce, and if the money will be returned? I have another question, why is the council selling these buildings and the libraries and swimming pools and blaming cutbacks at the same time as buying the pyramids??

If you cannot answer this can we have a full audit of wirral council and wirral chamber of commerce funds and grants please so the public can see were the money is being spent, and why ?

Yours faithfully,

Bill Crutchley

InfoMgr, FinDMT,

Dear Mr Crutchley

Thank you for your correspondence.

A response to your earlier FOI enquiry has been issued and we trust you have now had the opportunity to read this.

With regards to the purchase of the Grange and the Pyramids in Birkenhead town centre, this was possible as a result of the Council's successful bids for central Government grant funding, including Future High Streets and Levelling Up funding, specifically to support the regeneration of Birkenhead.

The sites were put up for sale just as the Council was completing its consultation on how the area could be improved and the decision to purchase was made to ensure regeneration could move forward unobstructed. Full details of the regeneration plans can be found in the Birkenhead 2040 Framework, a 20-year plan setting out radical proposals to create family-friendly neighbourhoods with beautiful, green public spaces and parks. The plan will re-connect the revitalised town centre with the waterfront and will make the most of the town’s iconic heritage and buildings. Documents are published online at https://haveyoursay.wirral.gov.uk/regene...

We trust this answers your enquiry.

Yours sincerely
