Efforts made to market Dorking Foundry site as a separate entity since 2017

The request was successful.

Dear Mole Valley District Council,
I would be grateful if you could provide the above information.
I understand that you have undertaken various feasibility studies but, bearing in mind your insistence that the Foundry site on its own is unmarketable, I would like to know on what basis you have made this assertion.
Therefore I would be grateful if you could provide the relevant feasibility studies and any evidence that you have actually tried to market the site on its own, rather than linked with the Church Street workshops.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
(Mrs) Pat Smith

Freedom Of Information, Mole Valley District Council

Dear Ms Smith

Thank you for your information request.

I have considered your request under the Environmental Information
Regulations 2004 (EIR) as it is information relating to activities
affecting or likely to affect the Environment.

Please be advised that we haven’t marketed the Foundry or Church Street
Workshops since 2017.

With regard to feasibility studies I can confirm that we also hold various
development appraisals and working papers which are exempt from disclosure
under Regulation 12(5)(e) of the EIR.

Regulation 12(5)(e) states a public authority may refuse to disclose
information to the extent that its disclosure would adversely affect the
confidentiality of commercial or industrial information where such
confidentiality is provided by law to protect a legitimate economic
interest. In engaging Regulation 12(5)(e) we are required to carry out a
Public Interest Test:

There will always be some public interest in disclosure to promote
transparency and accountability of public authorities, greater public
awareness and understanding of environmental matters, a free exchange of
views, and more effective public participation in environmental decision
making, all of which ultimately contribute to a better environment.

At this stage in the project life cycle it is considered that disclosure
would adversely affect the Council’s legitimate economic interests in
relation to the future redevelopment of the site.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be
submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your
original letter and should be addressed to: Louise Bircher, Mole Valley
District Council, Pippbrook, Dorking, Surrey, RH4 1SJ.

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: Information
Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9
5AF Or by calling 0303 123 1113 (local rate) Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.
