Effectiveness of Daily Work Search Reviews

Department for Work and Pensions did not have the information requested.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

I refer to the common practice in many Jobcentres of requiring claimants to attend daily for a period of time and note that sometimes (but not always) this is under provisions of "Help to Work"

Please supply me with any evidence you have showing that this practice makes it more likely that claimants receiving this particular support will get and sustain employment .

Yours faithfully,

Mr Harris

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Work and Pensions's handling of my FOI request 'Effectiveness of Daily Work Search Reviews'.

You have not responded promptly and in any case within 20 days as required by law.
As compliance with the law appears to have caused you difficulty on so many occasions, I have asked the ICO to support you.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/e...

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request a further internal review of Department for Work and Pensions's handling of my FOI request 'Effectiveness of Daily Work Search Reviews'.

You have supplied information about the employment outcomes for some of the claimants referred to DWSR.

That's not what I asked for.

I asked for any evidence you have showing that this practice makes it MORE LIKELY that claimants receiving this particular support will get and sustain employment. To get that from the HtW statistics you would need to compare the outcomes for two closely matched group[s, one who went on DWSR and one that didn't. If the published information about DWSR is correct, you won't have that.

To help you find the information, consider the point at which you were designing DWSR. You doubtless looked at evidence such as Randomized controlled trials of similar regimes conducted either by yourselves or others. That could provide evidence of the effectiveness of a regime such as DWSR and that's what I'm after.

Alternatively, if you don't have such evidence, please say so in compliance with section 1(1)(a) of the FoI Act

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/e...

Yours faithfully,

Mr Harris

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request yet another internal review of Department for Work and Pensions's handling of my FOI request 'Effectiveness of Daily Work Search Reviews'.

This is because you still haven't provided the requested information

On 02 June 2016 I requested an IR because of the delay
On 17 June 2016 you sent me a response to the original request
On 21 June 2016 I sent a further IR request because the 17/6/16 response didn't contain the information asked for
On 30 June 2016 you sent me an apology for the delay only

* Therefore, a response to my IR request of 21/06/16 is still outstanding *

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/e...

DWP doesn't have any evidence that Daily Work Search Reviews are effective in getting people into work. This *might* have legal implications. Issue blogged at http://ukwelfarebenefitstruthseek.blogsp...
