Dear Karim,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding admissions statistics for the Education Tripos 2010-2015. Please see attached for the information we are able to provide; only those applicants that had GCSE and/or AS/A level exams have been listed.

If you are dissatisfied with my response you may seek an internal review in writing setting out the grounds for review. It will be dealt with by a College Officer. Should you not be satisfied with the outcome of the review, you will have a right of appeal to the Information Commissioner by writing to him at Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

Dear Freedom of Information Officer,

Thank you very much for this information.

I was wondering if I could trouble you to clarify and answer some additional questions:

1) Does the data attached include only those called to interview and discount/not feature those who were deselected before interview stage?

2) Can you provide background data on their school types (independent/state per intake - If this is not possible due to data protection then could you give a percentage of independent vs state applications and acceptances please).

3) Can you provide data for achieved A Level Grades of the above candidates in the attachment (2011-2015)

4) Finally, could you please indicate the candidates pooled and those given pool offers by other colleges after the Winter Pool.

Yours sincerely,

Karim Malik

Dear Karim,

Thank you for your further questions.

 1. As requested in your original email, the data shows all applicants
studying GCSEs and/or A levels (as was marked on our original
response).

 2. Split between State/Independent as follows:

2011: State: 27%/Independent: 18%/Other: 55% Accepted: State 67% Other 33%
2012: State: 25%/Independent 25%/Other 50% Accepted: State: 100%
2013: State 25%/Independent 25%/Other 50% Accepted: State 33%/Independent
33%/Other 33%
2014: State: 42%/Independent 16%/Other: 42% Accepted: State: 33%/Other 67%
2015:  State: 50%/Independent 25%/Other 25% Accepted: State:
50%/Independent 50%
2016: State: 25%/Independent 25%/Other 50% Accepted: State:
25%/Independent 75%
Year applies to year of entry

3.       We do not know the A level grades of unsuccessful applicants.

4.       We do not retain information about the Winter Pool outcomes of
previous admissions round. However, for the current admissions rounds (for
entry in 2016/17) we placed two candidates in the Winter Pool who were
both made offers by another College.

5)       For the Arts and Social Sciences, performance across best three
or best four (in terms of UMS achieved) subjects provides a strong
indication of Tripos potential. However, please can we remind you that
assessments are a holistic process and you may find this link to the
University's website informative:
