Under the Freedom of Information Act, I kindly request the following information regarding Education Health Care Plans (EHCP).

1) How many young people with special educational needs in your local authority area require an EHCP for transitioning from a school placement to a college placement in September 2016?

Dear Ms Miezite,

Further to your email we are now in a position to respond to your enquiry
regarding Education Health Care Plans (EHCP). Firstly, please allow me to
apologise for the length of time it has taken to provide this response to
you. Unfortunately it has taken longer than expected to collate the
relevant data.

1.    How many young people with special educational needs in your local
authority area require an EHCP for transitioning from a school placement
to a college placement in September 2016?

The reply is based on the number of young people in transition year 11. We
are unable to predict at this stage who will attend college, apply for an
apprenticeship, or stay on in their present school. The current no of year
11 students with a statement/EHCP is 587.

2.    How many of these young people received their final EHCP by the 31st
March 2016 deadline?

Out of these 587 EHCP/Statements, 286 are band A to D and the conversion
published plan states these are planned for completion in 2017. Of the 301
EHCP/Statements requiring conversion by 31st March 2016, the number of
young people who received their final EHCP by 31/03/16 was 91. To date 188
have been completed.

We trust that you are satisfied with the information provided. If you have
any queries regarding our response, or you require any additional
information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely,

Vicky Austin
