Dear Department for International Trade,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for International Trade's handling of my FOI request 'EDO MBM Technology Ltd Export licence end users'.

I have two issues to raise concerning this response.

1. Please clarify the exact application completion dates for each SIEL listed.

2. In its response DIT states:

"Information in respect of “the numbers of licences (of any kind) granted, refused, rejected,
revoked, stopped for the company EDO MBM Technology Ltd, Brighton related to Hornet Bomb
Racks / Hornet Missile Launchers sent via Turkey”, for “each year between 2014-2020”, to the
other countries referred to in your request is not held by this Department.
Finally, in respect of your request for information about goods “sent via Turkey”, including information about sales, to the end-users referred to in your request, please note that the Department does not hold this information."

Please clarify this response. DIT appears to be claiming not to hold information on re-exports to countries via Turkey. Yet it is my understanding that the DIT export control licence application process require that the exporter provide DIT with re-export information in order to comply with its internal and international export control obligations.

Is DIT saying that NO re-exports to the listed countries were authorised by any export control licences?
Is the language used in my FOIA request - "sent via Turkey" an inexact description of such re-export authority?
Or is DIT saying it does hold information on exports licence applications by the company related to the Hornet to the listed countries but that this was not 'via Turkey' ?

Yours faithfully,

Ceri Gibbons
