Economics admissions statistics

The request was refused by London School of Economics.

Dear London School of Economics,
Can I please have the number of offers and rejections from 2012 admission cycle onwards against their prediction grades.

Yours faithfully,

Don Gibbs

Dear Don,

My colleagues have had a further look at your request and have made the following comments:

'They've asked for the number of offers and rejections against predicted grades so would that mean the numbers broken down by predicted grades e.g. A*A*A* - 14 offers, 9 rejected? Is it for all qualifications, or just A levels, or some selection of qualifications? If it's all qualifications it would definitely exceed the time-limit. There are 300000 records with predicted grades over that period. Even if it's just A levels it's a massive data set due to the time period and the inconsistency of the qualification data. Finally are they looking for it to be broken down by cycle alone, or also by programme?'

Our main issue with qualifications data is that we are sent the data from UCAS and this is entered by applicants and not always in a standard way. Obviously there is an issue with whether the cost limit set in Section 12 of the FoI Act could be breached. If you can let me know which qualifications data you are looking for, and if you are happy for this to be broken down by cycle, I can check with my colleague if this fits within the cost limit.

Regards,
Rachael

Dear GLPD.Info.Rights,

It will only for a levels in terms of the qualifications I am looking for.
Number of offers and rejections against predictions would be like as you have stated: ***- 14 offers , 9rejected etc.
Finally I would be looking for it to be broken down by both Cycle and programme.

Yours sincerely,

Don G

Dear Don,

With reference to your request for information under the Freedom of Information Act, I am have passed your clarification on to colleagues who have confirmed that they are unable to process your request within the time limit set in Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act. The data that can be pulled out of our student database does not match your request entirely and, as this relates to applicants, would be exempt under Section 40, personal information. To process this raw data so that it meets your request would take us over the 18 hours required to provide information.

If you would like to request an internal review, you can write to Louise Nadal, School Secretary, London School of Economics and Political Science, Houghton Street, London, WC2A 2AE. We will then review the response to your request and get back to you within 20 working days. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office http://www.ico.gov.uk/, though they expect the internal review to be carried out before receiving a complaint directly.

Yours sincerely,
