Dear Fife Council,

I would like to request the following information.

1 In your local authority, what was the estimated population in 2017/18 of:

a Vulnerable 2 year olds eligible for free early years and childcare provision?
b 3 – 5 year olds eligible for free early years and childcare provision?

2 In the final term of 2017/18, how many early years and childcare places were made available for:
a Vulnerable 2 year olds?
b 3 - 5 year olds?

3 In the final term of 2017/18, how many early years and childcare places for vulnerable 2 year olds were made available in
a Council nurseries?
b Partner providers?

4 In the final term of 2017/18, how many early years and childcare places for 3 – 5 year olds were made available in
a Council nurseries?
b Partner providers?

5 In the final term of 2017/18, how many council nursery places for vulnerable 2 year olds were made available as
a Half day, term time only?
b Half day, year round?
c Full day, term time only (ie: two free half day sessions in the same day plus lunch)?

The Scottish Government is currently estimating that 32% of 2 year olds in
Fife are eligible for funded ELC.

b 3 – 5 year olds eligible for free early years and childcare provision?

Based on NHS birth figures provided from 1.3.16 to 28.2.17 we can confirm
that there were approximately: 7858 3/4yr old children who were eligible
to start

2 In the final term of 2017/18, how many early years and childcare places
were made available for:

a Vulnerable 2 year olds?

The number of 2yr old spaces made available in the school year of 2017-18
was:
