E-bike and scooter battery fires
Dear fire service,
Under the FOI Act 2000:
Please could you tell me for each of 2020, 2021, 2022 and to date in 2023:
- How many fires suspected of being caused by faulty e-bike or scooter batteries have there been which have been responded to by your fire service
- How many of these caused injuries?
- How many of these cause death?

We do not have a specific category on our reporting system for "e-bike" or
"scooter" batteries.
We have searched the system using the condition of source of ignition is
'Electricity supply - Apparatus - batteries, generators'. From the free
text notes there were two fires due to "e-bike" or "scooter" batteries.
One in 2021 and one in 2022.
If you are unhappy with the way your request for information has been
handled, you can request a review by contacting the Freedom of Information
