DWP Policy wrt anonymity

J Newman made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions

The request was successful.

From: J Newman

19 January 2012

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

The Joint Committee on the Draft Defamation Bill has said that
anonymity “discourages responsibility”.

Is the important need for openess, transparency and public
accountability an integral part of DWP's beliefs and policy?

Yours faithfully,

J Newman

Dear DWP Adelphi Freedom-of-Information-Request,

Thank you, but none of this explains the selective way in which you
apply this "policy". Whilst you say that transparency is in the
public interest, you are not prepared to extend this principle to
the Atos IT, where apparently secrecy is the only way of allowing
it to do its job properly. Most people will not be able to
understand this contradiction, particularly when set against the
statements made by the Justice Dept. and the PM’s promises.

Yours sincerely,

J Newman
