Can the MPS provide details of any costs associated with the Duchess of

I’m writing to lodge a formal complaint and to request an internal review relating to my request for information ref 01/FOI/19/1384.

The Metropolitan Police denied my request for information on the cost of protecting the Duchess of Sussex during her visit to New York, U.S., in February 2019 citing national security concerns.

The basis of my appeal relates to previous disclosures last year of similar information relating to the cost of protecting the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.

In addition, Thames Valley Police's Crime Commissioner's office disclosed the cost of policing the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex last year.

These disclosures contained overall budgets for policing the event rather than details of specific protection. My intention with the request is to obtain the financial costs of the Duchess of Sussex's trip to New York only.

As the cost of royal protection is funded through the Met – and therefore ultimately taxpayers – I believe the disclosure of information relating to cost is in the public interest and that a precedent for such a disclosure has been set.

Can the Met reconsider my request in light of its previous disclosures of similar information and provide further reasoning for its original decision if it is not overturned?

 The reviewing officer will reconsider the original request before

There is no statutory time limit in relation to the completion of an
Internal Review.  However, the MPS aim to complete Internal Reviews within

based upon guidance published by the Information Commissioner.
