Drugs listed for no deal Brexit stockpiling

Waiting for an internal review by Department of Health and Social Care of their handling of this request.

Dear Department of Health and Social Care,

Please make available a complete list of all generic and brand names of medicines that have been listed for stockpiling in the event of no deal Brexit.
Specifically, I would like the information to be provided as a spreadsheet containing the following information:
1. Generic or brand name of the drug
2. Active ingredient(s)
3. Chemical class or family
4. Medical conditions for which these drugs are commonly prescribed

Yours faithfully,

Daisy Cooper

FreedomofInformation,

Dear Ms Cooper

Thank you for your request of 30 July under the Freedom of Information Act
(our ref: FOI-1143196).

I am writing to inform you that the Department's consideration of the
balance of the public interest with regard to your request is not yet
complete, and requires further time in line with Section 10(3) of the
Freedom of Information Act.

The Department is currently assessing the public interest in release under
Sections 27 (International Relations), 35 (policy in development) and 43
(commercial interests).

We anticipate this process will take no longer than a further 20 working
days to complete.  We therefore aim to respond fully to your request by 25
September 2018.

Please accept my apologies for this delay.

Yours sincerely

Dorothy Crowe

Dear Department of Health and Social Care,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department of Health and Social Care's handling of my FOI request 'Drugs listed for no deal Brexit stockpiling'.

You have cited three grounds for not providing the information I requested. All three are subject to a public interest test. It is my view that the case for publishing this information is overwhelmingly in the public interest. There can be no real dispute that the public has a right to know whether and how to plan for managing their own health in the event of a no-deal Brexit and being given the opportunity to plan their medicinal care with their GP / consultants and other hospital staff in the short remaining period before 29 March 2019.

British citizens have a right to health under Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which specifically includes medical care. Withholding this information could potentially compromise this.
