Dear Freedom of Information,
1) Incidents on the likes of STORM and ICAD have opening codes and closing codes which help identify if a log was likely a criminal activity if it was deemed as such. Which system do you use for incident logging, can not utilise opening or closing codes to help conduct this FOIA to reduce the 2159?
2) The figure is unusually large, previous years of WYP have been low, I've only seen figures so high for forces where their own drone teams log their flights too, do WYP police drone flights get logged so could be part of the 2159 figure?
3) Providing the first 10 logs is a relatively trivial task and could have been done regardless of the other questions.
Yours sincerely,
I Hudson
Good morning
The number of incidents relates to incidents including "unmanned aerial" or "drone", each of these records would need the context reviewing to ensure they are accurate for the response and do not form parts of other words that are contained within the log.
As per the response, we can provide information relating to question 3 of your request.
I do hope this helps.
Kind Regards
Martine Frankland

Dear Freedom of Information,
For FOIA FOI 1898943/23, I do understand give the large number of free text matches it's not practical to check those manually, in previous years the count has only been around 100.
So could I have the first 10 incident logs (which was question 3), plus could you confirm if the WYP drone team log their flights then at least I know that it a potential reason for the increase in the numbers?
Finally for my records could you confirm which incident system you use, it just helps me in future to be as specific as I can be when making requests.
Yours sincerely,
I Hudson

Good Afternoon,
Thank you for your request for information received by West Yorkshire
Police on 15/01/24.
You requested the following information:
For FOIA FOI 1898943/23, I do understand give the large number of free
text matches it's not practical to check those manually, in previous years
the count has only been around 100.
So could I have the first 10 incident logs (which was question 3), plus
could you confirm if the WYP drone team log their flights then at least I
know that it a potential reason for the increase in the numbers?
Finally for my records could you confirm which incident system you use, it
just helps me in future to be as specific as I can be when making
requests.
Also need to address previous OC response incident number and:
1) Incidents on the likes of STORM and ICAD have opening codes and closing
codes which help identify if a log was likely a criminal activity if it
was deemed as such. Which system do you use for incident logging, can not
utilise opening or closing codes to help conduct this FOIA to reduce the
2159?
2) The figure is unusually large, previous years of WYP have been low,
I've only seen figures so high for forces where their own drone teams log
their flights too, do WYP police drone flights get logged so could be part
of the 2159 figure?
3) Providing the first 10 logs is a relatively trivial task and could have
been done regardless of the other questions.
Section 17 of the Act provides:
(1) A public authority which, in relation to any request for information,
is to any extent relying on a claim that information is exempt information
must, within the time for complying with Section 1(1), give the applicant
a notice which:-
(a) states the fact,
(b) specifies the exemption in question, and
(c) states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption
applies.
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 obliges us to respond to requests
promptly and in any case no later than 20 working days after receiving
your request. We must consider firstly whether we can comply with S1(1)(a)
of the Act, which is our duty to confirm whether or not the information
requested is held and secondly we must comply with S1(1)(b), which is the
provision of such information. However, when a qualified exemption applies
either to the confirmation or denial or the information provision and the
public interest test is engaged, the Act allows the time for response to
be longer than 20 working days, if the balance of such public interest is
undetermined.
In this case, we have not yet reached a decision on where the balance of
the public interest lies in respect of either of the above obligations. We
estimate that it will take an additional 20 working days to take a
decision on where this balance lies by virtue of Section 30 –
Investigations and Proceedings Conducted by a Public Authority.
I would like to apologise in advance for the delay in responding to your
request. Please be assured that we will endeavour to send a response out
to you as soon as possible.
Kind regards
