Drainage at old railway bridge

The request was successful.

Graeme Bickerdike

Dear Sir/Madam

On 20 April 2023, you responded to my FoI request DC/5874 by indicating that a drainage survey had been commissioned relating to floodwater management at the disused railway bridge (BRP/8) on Barrowland Lane near Powerstock Common (SY5470097448)?

Could you tell me whether the survey has been completed and, if so, could I have a copy please?

Yours faithfully

Graeme Bickerdike

Dear Graeme Bickerdike

Further to my email today in response to your Freedom of Information
request DC/6847, I would like to add the following statement:

Dorset Council has not started working through the report yet, as we’ve
been trying to clear the system and remove all the washed out material
from under the bridge at this stage.  We have also identified that the
surface water, from private land to the north west of the bridge, is
overloading the system immediately under the bridge. The outfall from the
system to the river is a syphon drain, because of the levels which are
fairly flat. In normal conditions this works, but in extreme wet
conditions, this additional water is overloading this system and it
struggles to cope.

We are currently looking further into this, and discussing with our Flood
Risk Management colleagues.

Yours sincerely
