Dr. Fox's staff in Sri Lanka June 2011

Waiting for an internal review by Ministry of Defence of their handling of this request.

Dear Ministry of Defence,

It has been reported in the media that Dr Liam Fox's 'Secretary' met with several foreign government officials in Sri Lanka during June 2011.

Specifically, they claim that this unnamed representative of Dr. Fox met with ex-Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogallagama and senior oppostion MP Wijedasa Rajapaksa in the Spice Restaurant of the Hilton Hotel in Colombo on 9th June 2011. Meetings were held with other officials, such as Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, and the then Attorney General Mohan Peiris.

At this time Dr Fox was Secretary of State for Defence. There has since been considerable controversy about Adam Werritty being mistaken for an official member of Dr Fox's staff, especially in Sri Lanka.

Therefore, please can you confirm whether any staffs from Liam Fox's office meet with Sri Lankan Government Officials in Sri Lanka during June 2011? If so, who?

Was Adam Werritty present?

Who organised these meetings?

Who paid for any costs associated with the use of the Spice Restaurant at the Hilton Hotel?

Was any note made or minute or letter written as a result of what transpired at these meetings? Did any other action arise?

Yours faithfully,

P Miller

Dear Ministry of Defence,
