Dear Mr Roberts

TfL Ref: 0819-1819

Thank you for your email received by us on 26 June 2018 asking for audio
recordings of the doors opening and closing in relation to our transport
services.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy..
You asked for:

sound files of both the door opening beeps and the door closing beeps of
all stocks:

• Class 172 (London Overground)

• Class 315 (London Overground and TFL Rail) • Class 317 (London
Overground) • Class 321 (London Overground) • Class 345 (TFL Rail) • Class
360 (TFL Rail) • Class 378 (London Overground) • S Stock (London
Underground) • 1972 Stock (London Underground) • 1973 Stock (London
Underground) • 1992 Stock (London Underground) • 1995 Stock (London
Underground) • 1996 Stock (London Underground) • 2009 Stock (London
Underground) • Bombardier CR4000 (Croydon Tram) • Stadler Variobahn
(Croydon Tram) • B07 Stock (DLR) • B2K Stock (DLR) • B90 Stock (DLR) • B92
Stock (DLR) • Buses (All Makes And Models) • Cable Car

Please note that we are refusing your request under section 14(1) of the
Act. This is because we are unable to provide these audio recordings
without an exhaustive search across all of our modes to determine where
they are held because these sound files are not held centrally. It may
also require the manual reviewing of several individual contracts under
which these recordings are provided to ascertain whether this is
permissible within the agreements in place.

This is information in which there is very limited public interest but
would require significant resource to locate, extract and collate the
information you have requested. Whilst transparency is a vital part of our
work, we consider that to undertake the necessary time needed to locate,
review and extract the information needed for these audio recordings as
required for the purposes of public release to answer your request would
place an unreasonable burden on our resources.

Our principal duty is to provide an effective transport service for London
and we consider that answering this request would require disproportionate
effort to the benefit of providing it. Processing the request would be a
significant distraction from our work managing the TfL network, requiring
re-allocation of already limited resources and placing an unacceptable
burden on a small number of personnel. We do wish to clarify that whilst
we consider that your request falls under section 14(1) of the FOI Act,
this does not reflect a conclusion that it has been your intention to
deliberately place an undue burden on our resources.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal.

Yours sincerely

Jasmine Howard
