Doncaster Sheffield Airspace between the CAA and stakeholders for Doncaster Sheffield Airport
Dear Civil Aviation Authority,
Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
1. I would like to request the following in relation to Doncaster Sheffield Airport
ACP-2022-082 sponsored by the CAA
ACP 2024-039 sponsored by the City of Doncaster Council.
Between the dates 25 October 2024 and 28 March 2025 inclusive.
a) All communications between any official for the Civil Aviation Authority and the Secretaries of State and the Ministers of State – Heidi Alexander, Louise Haigh; Mike Kane.
b) All communications between the Civil Aviation including officers, and any authorised officer involved in the mobilisation of Doncaster Sheffield Airport (any member of the City of Doncaster Council including Mayor Ros Jones, any officer of FlyDoncaster Limited, any authorised consultant extensively but not exclusively FP Airports Ltd, Munich Airports International, Jacobs, Cyrrus Aviation)
c) All communications between the Civil Aviation Authority and the MPs representing Doncaster, Lee Pitcher MP and Sally Jameson, including meetings and minutes of the DSA Action Group set up by Lee Pitcher and any other discussions.
in respect of mobilising or progressing the airspace
2. In relation to the inquiry titled "Is airport expansion compatible with net zero and environmental targets?" launched on March 28, 2025.
In a statement announcing the inquiry, Toby Perkins MP, Chair of the Environmental Audit Committee (EAC), indicated that Ministers are “contemplating decisions on airport expansion projects,” explicitly mentioning the reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport alongside other projects such as Heathrow, London Luton, and Gatwick.
Please provide the following information:
a) Documentation: Copies of any briefing papers, reports, or correspondence prepared for or sent to DfT Ministers between January 28, 2025, and March 28, 2025, that outline the decision-making process or options under consideration for Doncaster Sheffield Airport’s reopening, as linked to the EAC inquiry.
b) Environmental and Net Zero Considerations: Any specific information provided to Ministers regarding how the reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport aligns with or impacts the UK’s net zero commitments and environmental targets, as referenced in the EAC inquiry.
