FOI, Electoral Commission

Dear Andrew Parkinson,

Our Ref: FOI 102/17

Thank you for your email to the Electoral Commission dated 23 June 2017.

The Commission aims to respond to requests for information promptly and
has done so within the statutory timeframe of twenty working days.

Your request is in bold below followed by our response.

You have requested:

Could you kindly provide details of any or all gifts and donations made
specifically to the Conservative party in the period 1st Jan 2011 to 23rd
June 2017. I would appreciate the following information in an Microsoft
Excel format (if possible):

·         Date of gift or donation

·         Name of donating person or organisation

·         Reason for the donation or gift

·         £ value of the donation or gift

Our response is as follows:

We hold some of the information you have requested.

Under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (PPERA),
there are controls on which donations a political party can accept. These
controls apply to political parties that are registered in Great Britain.
Certain donations must be recorded and reported to us. We publish these
reports in a register on our website. Members of the public can access and
search this register. Consequently, all the information regarding any
relevant donations to the Conservative and Unionist Party that has been
requested within this FOI request has been published on our website and is
already in the public domain. You can access and view details of

donations using our PEF online system [1]here. The details that are
displayed from a search of PEF online can be downloaded as a CSV file and
saved in MS Excel.

We do not hold any information in relation to the reason for a donation or
gift. Political parties are not required by the legislation to report to
us the reason that a donation or gift was given.

I trust that this information satisfies your request.

If you are not satisfied with this response, please note that the
Commission operates a review procedure, details of which can be found on
the Commission website at:
[2]http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/ab...

Please also note that if you have exhausted all internal Commission review
procedures and you are still not satisfied you have the right to appeal to
the Information Commissioner. Details of this procedure can be found on
the ICO website: [3]http://www.ico.gov.uk

Yours sincerely,

Ashley
