This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council,

I am making this request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Please can you confirm whether any grants, donations or other funding has been given by Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council to any or all of the following 4 charities in any of the last 5 years:

(i) HINDU SWAYAMSEVAK SANGH (UK) (Charity No. 267309);
(ii) GLOBAL AID TRUST LIMITED (Charity No.1123560);
(iii) STEADFAST TRUST (Charity No.1105806); and
(iv) SYRIA RELIEF (Charity No. 1143797).

In the event that any such donations, grants or other funding has been given, please provide details of the amount given to each of the charities in each of the last 5 years.

If you feel that a response to this request is not possible within the limits provided by the Act, I would be grateful if you could contact me by telephone or email and advise me as to how I could refine the request.

If you are unable to release certain records because the requested information is caught by one or more exemptions, please provide a register of all information in the scope of the request, including that which is being withheld.

Please provide the date and description of each record and indicate which exemption is cited to withhold it from disclosure. I would consider this information essential to be able to effectively argue the case for disclosure and expect this guidance to be covered under the Section 16 Duty to Advise and Assist.

I would also be grateful if you could release as much information as possible and provide documents in their original context (rather than digested extracts). I would like to receive all correspondence and information in an electronic format, but can be contacted on [phone number removed] if the cost of dealing with this request makes inspection of the record in person necessary.

Finally, please confirm that you have received this request. I look forward to your response within 20 working days, as outlined by the statute.

Yours faithfully,

Sam Collins
