Further to our email of 23rd September 2021, I have been advised that
in order for the University to process your request we need to understand
more clearly the information you are seeking and I should be grateful if
you could clarify the following: 

Cardiff University does not record information relating to research awards
where we can search under a classification of 'oil and gas'. 

You will therefore need to provide us with a list of companies you are
interested in and we can search our records against those specific
companies to see what information, if any, we hold. 

Please be aware that the legal response time of 20 working days for
responding to your request will not begin until we receive this
clarification from you.

Dear Jenna 

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated
22^nd September 2021. 

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses. 

 1. For the financial years 2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20, 2020/21 and any
available data for 2021/2022, I would like to be provided with details
on accepted donations, gifts, grants and research funding that have
come from oil and gas companies. For each, I would like the following
information:
- The name of the oil/gas company that gave the donation, gift, grant
or research funding
- The date the university accepted such donation, gift, grant and
research funding
- The sum and description of the accepted donation, gift, grant and
research funding
- A description of what the donation, gift, grant and research funding
was used for

(2) Also, for the financial years 2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20, 2020/21
and any available data for 2021/2022, I would like to be provided with
details on donations, gifts, grants and research funding that have
come from oil and gas companies which have been rejected by the
university.
For each rejected donation, gift, grant and research funding, please
provide the following information:
- The name of the oil/gas company that tried to give the donation,
gift, grant or research funding
- The date the university rejected such donation, gift, grant and
research funding
- The sum and description of the rejected donation, gift, grant and
research funding
- The reasons why the donation, gift, grant and research funding was
rejected 

On 27^th September 2021 you limited your request to the following
companies:
