We have no record of any funding being rejected.

considers the value of this funding to be exempt from disclosure and
claims the claims the exemption in S.33(1)(b) of the Freedom of
Information (Scotland) Act 2002. Please treat this email as notice of that
per S.16 of FoI(S)A.

The University and the companies giving the funding operate in a
competitive commercial marketplace. Releasing this information would allow
competitor institutions to benchmark themselves against the University of
Dundee, its staff or the funders or to seek to obtain commercial
advantage, in a manner likely to be substantially prejudicial to their
commercial interests.

The University is required to have regard to the public interest when
claiming this exemption. Whilst the University recognises the interest in
its activities, it notes that there is also a public interest in the
institution being able to undertake commercial activity on a
without-prejudice basis in support of its core mission. As such, the
balance of public interest favours withholding that information on this
occasion.

I hope that this is helpful and please let me know if you require anything
else.

Kind regards

Caroline Brown
