Donations Committee
Dear Blackfriars Hall, Oxford,
I am writing to request information on how the Hall considers small donations to local organisations.
These may be the responsibility of a specific committee (not necessarily called Donations Committee) or they may be addressed by a general committee (which may be called General Purposes Committee, Internal Committee, or another name).
If you have a specific committee which considers donations, please provide its most recent minutes.
If you have a general committee which considers donations, please provide the most recent decision on donations from its minutes.
I am also requesting any criteria or guidelines for eligibility and any criteria or guidelines which the Hall uses in making decisions on requests for donations.
Yours faithfully,
William Crowe
Dear William (if I may),
Thank you for your request to Blackfriars Hall under the Freedom of
Information Act.
Donations from Blackfriars Hall to local organisations are normally
considered by the Moderators committee of the Hall. The Moderators is
a general purposes Board tasked with day to day decision-making for the
Hall, and it reports to the Provincial Council of the Hall's parent
charity, the English Province of the Order of Preachers.
In keeping with current charity regulations, the Hall will only consider
applications that fall within the charitable purposes of our parent
charity and the direct charitable activities of the Hall. These include
activities that contribute directly to the teaching and welfare of
Blackfriars Hall students, and some narrowly defined research activity.
Requests are considered on a case by case basis on a rolling deadline.
With thanks and best wishes,
Anneli Chambliss Howes, Hall Bursar
