Donations Committee
Dear Jesus College, Oxford,
I am writing to request information on how the College considers small donations to local organisations.
These may be the responsibility of a specific committee (not necessarily called Donations Committee) or they may be addressed by a general committee (which may be called General Purposes Committee, Internal Committee, or another name).
If you have a specific committee which considers donations, please provide its most recent minutes.
If you have a general committee which considers donations, please provide the most recent decision on donations from its minutes.
I am also requesting any criteria or guidelines for eligibility and any criteria or guidelines which the College uses in making decisions on requests for donations.
Yours faithfully,
William Crowe
Dear William
I can confirm that we have a Donations Committee which considers small
donations to local organisations. I attach the minutes of our most recent
meeting.
Our key criteria for donations is that these should be in line with our
charitable objectives, which are determined by our Statutes. They
include: the furtherance of study, learning, education and research.
Therefore we encourage applications for donations which seek to support
these objectives in the broadest sense, particularly if they relate to
disadvantaged groups or communities within Oxford. In practice, College
donations should normally be limited to appeals which fall into one of the
following categories:
(a) Appeals for the support of educational objectives
(b) Local appeals of direct interest to the College
(c) Appeals in which the College has some link, responsibility or
patronage
(d) Appeals which would assist in fostering good relations with the
City
I hope that is helpful
Many thanks
Cait
