Domestic violence statistics

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Essex Police should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to make an Open Government request for all the information to which I am entitled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

In order to assist you with this request, I am outlining my query as specifically as possible.

If however this request is too wide or too unclear, I would be grateful if you could contact me as I understand that under the Act, you are required to advise and assist requesters.

I am requesting the following, all separated by year, from the years 2000 - 2009:

1. The number of domestic violence cases reported to you.

2. The number of these allegations which were made by women, and similarly the number that were made by men.

3. How many of these allegations led to a conviction.

4. How many of these convictions were of men, and how many of women.

I understand that under the Act, I should be entitled to a response within 20 working days. I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing or by email that you have received this request. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
